Supermarine Spitfire MK IXc, EN315 ZX-6 of Stanislaw Skalski. A Polish aviator and fighter ace who served with the Polish Air Force and RAF, Skalski was commander of the Polish Fighting Team (PFT). Arguably the most famous British aircraft of all time, Spits served in virtually every theatre of combat. The PFT, also known as “Skalski’s Circus”, fought alongside the British Commonwealth Desert Air Force in North African during 1943. Initially equipped with Spitfire MK.V's, the unit gained an immediate reputation for combat effectiveness and was soon re-equipped with Spitfire MK IX's.
