The Grumman F-14 Tomcat replaced the F-4 Phantom II as the US Navy's primary maritime air superiority fighter. Its variable geometry wing can sweep back for high speed supersonic flight and forward for improved positioning at lower speeds. The only foreign power to have operated F-14's is the Imperial Iranian Air Force (IIAF), now known as the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF), which still has F-14's in service as of 2024.
